This year, I am serving as the co-chair of HotCarbon’2025: Fourth Workshop on Sustainable Computer Systems.

Next week, @Timo Honig and I are co-organizing HotCarbon’25, the Fourth Workshop on Sustainable Computer Systems. The event is bringing together researchers and practitioners to explore bold ideas for improving the sustainability of computing systems, from software to hardware, cloud to edge.

As our industry continues to scale, the environmental impact of computing is more pressing than ever. Topics at this year’s workshop include software-driven hardware obsolescence, embodied carbon, and the need to rethink the upgrade-and-discard culture in tech.

🔥 This year’s program features: • 19 cutting-edge paper presentations • Poster sessions • A PhD forum (graduate students welcome!) • Open community discussions

👥 Keynote Speakers: • Le Xie (Harvard University) • Daniel S. Berger (Microsoft Research)
